Eric S. Davidson, M.A., C.S.A.D.P.

Biography

Eric's personal mission is to serve, teach and lead so that the health, leadership abilities, and personal development of others are strengthened!

Eric has been employed with the EIU health service since 1996. During this time he has overseen the expansion of the Health Service's Health Promotion efforts from 1 professional and 1 graduate assistant to 2 full time professionals and 6-8 graduate assistants. Since August 2009, he has also served as the Director for the Illinois Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence Prevention, assisting 2- and 4- year colleges within Illinois to improve their substance abuse prevention programming. Eric also serves the Vice-President of Student Affairs in assessment, evaluation, and research matters. He has advised several student groups including BACCHUS, Health Fair Planning Committee, Alpha Phi Omega, as well as serving on several master’s level thesis committees..

Eric currently is a national volunteer with The BACCHUS Network as the Illinois State Coordinator, and has previously served as Secretary of the American College Health Association's Health Promotion Section, the 2007 President of the Illinois Society for Public Health Education, and is a member of the American College Health Association's Alcohol and Drug Task Force and the NASPA Alcohol and Other Drug and Health in Higher Education Knowledge Communities. Eric earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Education-Health Education from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale in 2012, where he conducted dissertation research on sleep quality and quantity of college students. 

Eric has been involved with the BACCHUS network since 1996 as a professional, and was involved with BACCHUS as an undergrad. He was awarded the Outstanding Advisor Award in 2001 and Outstanding Alumni Award in 2008

In his spare time, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, reading books on leadership, management and personal development, and camping/backpacking.
