NRHH/RHA Scholarships
Every year, three scholarships are presented at the RHA/NRHH end of the year banquet. One scholarship is presented at the Resident Assistant end of the year banquet. Several councils raise funds throughout the year to raise money for these scholarships. Each recipient is recognized with his or her name placed on a plaque in the central housing office in the union. The following are descriptions for each of the RHA/NRHH scholarships.
Sean R. McKinney Scholarship
The Sean R. McKinney Scholarship recognizes outstanding contributions by a first year student to our on-campus students and housing program. Nominations can be made by any Hall Council (one nomination per council) or Housing Professional Staff member. Sean McKinney was a veteran staff member in the Housing Department until his untimely passing on June 29, 1991 after a 15 month battle with cancer. Sean had a passion for working with freshman and touched the lives of all the people he knew. Nominees must be a student with two or less semesters enrolled at EIU, have unselfishly rendered his/her service to the housing program, has striven to improve the lives of student residents at EIU, have demonstrated leadership ability, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 at the end of the last semester before nomination, and must remain in a residence hall for the following academic year.
Richard G. Enochs Scholarship
The Richard G. Enochs Scholarship recognizes the contributions of an outstanding student leader in our on-campus community. Nominations can be made by any Hall Council (one nomination per council) or Housing Professional Staff member. Nominees must be a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student at Eastern with the stated intention of returning to the University for the fall semester following the date of his or her selection, be of outstanding personal character and a student of scholastic achievement, and reside in University Housing at the time of nomination and in the fall semester of the following year.
Louis V. Hencken Service Scholarship
The Louis V. Hencken Service Scholarship recognizes contributions of outstanding on-campus student leaders by class standing in our on-campus community. Nominations may be made by any Hall Council or Housing Professional Staff member. Nominees must be a full-time student at EIU, be a student completing their first year of school through graduate school, reside in University Housing, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and take an active roll in the Residence Hall Association or an individual housing units governing organization.
More information about the individual scholarships, as well as application information and due dates, will be given in the spring semester. The awards will be presented at the RHA/NRHH end of the year banquet.
