NRHH is comprised of the top 1% of leaders living on campus. This group is committed to mentoring and supporting the development of leaders living within the residential community at Eastern Illinois University. We do this through several initiatives, which a few of these are the NRHH/RHA Leadership Retreat, and NRHH Leadership Conferences.
This is a retreat in the beginning of the Fall semester. The retreat is a partnership with the Residence Hall Association. The purpose of this retreat is to assist in jump starting leadership development among community councils. Students who attend learn the basics of their positions. They will also learn how make their council more effective and impactful in their communities. The retreat is usually an overnight experience which works to break down barriers and get councils involved in open dialog. The retreat also allows for team building among student leaders. Students who attend the retreat will also engage in a community service element.
The NRHH Leadership Conference is usually held in the Spring semester. The NRHH Leadership Conference is designed to engage community councils in collaboration and education. This conference mirrors regional and national conferences, but on smaller level. Each hall has a delegation, which develops a role call and attends sessions presented by other student leaders and professional staff members. The NRHH Leadership Conference will also have the participants engage in a community service project.
