Gerry B. Dudley- Medical Tools and References
Captain Dudley's medical practice in Charleston, Illinois exposed him to some basic tools of medicine, such as the microscope and balance. However, upon enlistment Captain Dudley required further training to familiarize himself with battle wound care and treatments for sick soldiers. Generally, doctors participated in these types of courses at their training camp in the United States, or, most likely, upon arrival in Europe. The artifacts below are part of the Dudley collection at the Coles County Historical Society.
Captain Dudley used this microscope and balance at his Charleston, Illinois practice.
Captain Dudley often referred to this manual for the proper treatment of wounded soldiers.
