CCLHP: Deposition of B.O. Stanley
That I was in Charleston on the 28th day of last month, I was at my place of business north of public square when the firing commenced. After the firing in the west part of the square the men run to the east side of the square and got behind Judge Edwards office, there they commenced loading, their arms consisting of guns and pistols. I saw John OHair shoot three times, his pistol pointing South west. I also saw Robert McClain and James OHair shoot. I think James OHair shot at Col. Mitchell. McClain, I think shot at some person north of where Mitchell stood. I also saw Frank Tolen shoot, but could not see who he shot at. I also saw John Frazier sit on his horse in the street east of the Square and shoot with a large pistol into the square on the south side of the Court House. I saw many others shooting but did not know the men – from where I stood I could not see that portion of the yard where the soldiers are said to have at the time been.
