Machine Shop
The Physics Department has a machine shop where many things can be manufactured. Major equipment in the shop include a large milling machine, a small milling machine, two lathes, band saws, sand blaster, and several wood cutting tools. The shop is available for upper-level students and research students to create intricate pieces of equipment. Electronic positioning equipment can work with accuracy of better than 0.0001 inches. We have the capability to fabricate items for teaching labs as well as specialty items for research. Students can get hands-on experience with the tools and processes used in a machine shop.
