Which software will be auto-updated by default by ITS?
In order to maintain a secure computing environment and improve the user experience, ITS will auto-update common software products on EIU-owned computers by default.
Software products include:
- Adobe Flash Player
- Adobe Reader
- Java
- Internet Explorer
- Mozilla Firefox
- Windows Management Framework (PowerShell version)
- Microsoft Office
The Java update script will remove old versions of Java while installing the latest version of Java compatible with Banner and implementing a means to control prompts for Java updates.
The Firefox update script will bring all campus computers up to the latest versions and will then rely on their automatic update mechanisms to keep them up to date.
If you use software that requires previous versions of this managed software, you may work with your ISS/TSS or ITS User Services to opt your computer out of these automatic updates.
