The Health Education Resource Center (HERC) in partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Services' (IDHS) Division of Substance Use Prevention & Recovery is officially Recognized as a Drug Overdose Prevention Program (DOPP)
Departments can partner with our office to have Narcan (AKA Naloxone), on hand for FREE. Offices may request Narcan from us for first-aid kits, for individual personal use, or for distribution to EIU students.
Students may also request Narcan from the HERC. If you are a staff or faculty member requesting Narcan, please fill out the machform included below. Students can fill out the same form or pick up a FREE box of Narcan at the following offices on campus:
Please use the form below to request Naloxone for your office or to partner with the HERC! Students/staff/faculty can also fill out this form to request for personal use. You can also visit one of our partners listed above.

The HERC, along with campus partners in other departments can also hold trainings for you or your group! Along with learning how to administer Naloxone, individuals will learn how to recognize the signs/symptoms of overdose and recognize who may be at risk of opioid overdosing. Our for can be found below for summer and fall 2024 semesters. If none of those dates work, please indicate that in the form and we will be in contact with you to arrange a training. Our trainings are 100% free and attendees can receive a free box of Naloxone at the end of training*.
*boxes of Naloxone are on hand for those who select in-person trainings. Those who select virtual can still receive boxes but will be delayed in receiving them. Units available are based on # of participants vs. # of units on hand. This could cause delays for all attendees (in-person or virtual) in receiving units.
