EIU Rural School Initiative

The EIU Rural Teacher Corps is a path for preservice candidates to learn more about teaching in rural communities. Affiliated with the National Rural Teacher Corps, we are developing national opportunities for our RTC members.

Each semester, preservice candidates plan and lead professional development opportunities, site visits to local rural schools, and school-based projects. Events will take place both on and off campus. We work closely with area administrators and teachers, making the Rural Teacher Corps the best place to build your network before you graduate.

There is no membership fee, but the Rural Teacher Corps expects all members to participate every month, either at the monthly meeting, or one of the planned activities.
