The purpose is to develop partnership between EIU and community colleges and ease the transfer to teacher education.
Objective
- The Community College RTC Network will collaborate across college campuses and work with EIU to support future teachers and remove barriers to becoming a teacher.
- The network will provide a forum for colleges to recruit and retain students in teacher preparation paths to share ideas and activities for future teacher groups.
- Work with local high schools to make the path from Sr. High to community college to EIU and remove barriers for new teachers.
Activity/Opportunities
- The community colleges will work with EIU to develop working relationship agreements that smooth the transition from college to EIU teacher education programs.
- The network will work with high schools to provide support for the transition from high school to community college.
- The network will share ideas and activities across campuses to help each other improve services to future teachers.
- The network will work with high schools and EIU to offer dual credit education courses at the high schools.
- Develop future teacher support groups on community college campuses.

- We are currently working with several local community colleges to develop campus based groups.
