The Rural Teacher Corps went on a site visit to the Dieterich School on March 8. We met with principal Josh Benefiel. He gave us a tour of the Dieterich Grade school. We talked about how the school is structured and how everything works because all the grades are in one school. We met a few teachers and learned how they run the classroom, and he answered all the questions we asked. |

The Rural Teacher Corps went on a site visit to Arcola Elementary School on March 10. We met with principal Angie Gentry who showed us around Arcola's school, while telling us about the school's use of flex seating, technology, ESL classes, and answering any other questions we had for her along the way. |

Shelbyville Site Visit |

Russ Tomblin, Shelbyville's Middle School principal, organized this event for the EIU Rural Teacher Corps students to meet with teachers, interact with principals, and have a tour of the school building. |
Effingham Site Visit |
September 2022 - On September 23, three students from the EIU Rural Teacher Corps visited Effingham Unit #40. The new superintendent, Andy Johnson, and South Side Elementary School principal Cheri Marten gave Holly Higgins, Isabel Lee, and Rebecca Habing a tour of South Side Elementary School and Effingham Junior High School. The students were excited to hear about Mr. Johnson's vision for Effingham schools. |

Eastern Illinois University's education majors met with Sullivan's superintendent, Ted Walk, who gave them tours of the schools in his district. |

The Future Educators Club at Sullivan High School invited the EIU Rural Teacher Corps to their school on December 3rd. RTC members Heather Kistner, Rebecca Habing, Isabel Lee, and Holly Higgins answered their questions about what it is like to be an education major, what it is like to attend EIU, and general advice as the continue through their academic career. |
Neoga Site Visit

EIU students met with Superintendent Bill Fritcher who gave them a tour of campus, introduced them to various teachers and administrators, and gave them the opportunity to talk to Neoga's Future Teachers Club. The students were able to see the projects the Ag. Department are working on, the technology being taught in their technology program, and various classrooms. The EIU students were also excited to see that Neoga is in the process of building a greenhouse and an outdoor classroom! |

Martinsville Virtual Site Visit |

EIU students met with the Martinsville Elementary School administration and staff to learn more about Martinsville and teaching in rural schools. Sheri Cooper, a 1st grade teacher, created a video to highlight Martinsville Elementary and show us what their school stands for. |
North Clay Site Visit |

North Clay invited EIU students to tour both their elementary and high schools--which included their greenhouse, virtual wielding, technology advancements (including use of chromebooks, ipads in the kitchens, 3D printer in the business class). They allowed EIU students to comprehend the benefits of their rural school environment. |
