GENERAL PARKING INFORMATION
Hours
- Parking office hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. We are closed for lunch 12 - 1 p.m.
- When the parking office is closed, parking permits and paying a citation may be completed at any time click here online.
- Visitors can plan ahead, pick the respective dates they will be on campus, and print their permit before arriving.
- Parking is enforced 24 hours, 7 days a week, all year. You may park in student lots and some staff lots on Saturday and Sunday without a permit; this will be indicated on signs at the entrance to each lot.
Parking Permit Cost
- Permit cost for Upperclass students is $100 per year / $50 per semester. Permit cost for Underclass students is $200 per year / $100 per semester. There is a $3 shipping fee when ordering permits that are mailed to the permanent address. Purchase a permit here.
*Upperclass students are 60 credit hours through grad student or 21 years of age. Underclass students are 59 credit hours or less and/or under 21 years of age. Graduate Assistants are considered upperclass students.
- Visitors can purchase a day pass here for $1.50 per day.
Parking Citations
- Most parking fines are $40. Handicap space violations are $250.
- Unpaid parking tickets are transferred to the Business Office at the end of each semester. Parking CITATIONS THAT ARE NOT PAID will prohibit you from registering and/or receiving transcripts. All unpaid citations must be paid prior to purchasing a parking permit.
- Parking services does not dismiss valid parking tickets however everyone is eligible for a one in a lifetime dismissed ticket. Please bring in your first ticket to UPD Parking Services or refer to the back of the citation for instructions to appeal a citation. Appeal forms are available in the Parking Services lobby. Lost/Stolen Permit
- If your permit is LOST or STOLEN come to the University Police Department to file a police report or receive a temporary permit. You will be responsible for any parking tickets until the time of the report. Replacement permits can be purchased at the University Police Department Parking Services. You will need to complete a lost permit form and the fee is $5.
Switching Vehicles Temporary Permit
- If you have a valid permit and are driving a different vehicle there is no need to purchase another permit if you still have yours. Please make sure to affix your student permit decal to the lower inside of the passenger's side windshield. Then email parking@eiu.edu your new vehicle information so we can update your vehicle profile. If you are driving a temporary vehicle, we can issue a temporary permit for a two week period. Please stop in our lobby and request a temporary permit.
Please note a permit does not always guarantee a parking space of your first preference. Your permit allows you to park on campus in a legal spot - sometimes requiring a 5-10 minute walk.
