Frank McCormick Phi Beta Kappa Study Abroad Scholarship

The Frank McCormick PBK Study Abroad Scholarship is awarded to an exceptional full-time student of Eastern Illinois University who has been accepted to a study abroad program. The program may take place in the summer or over the course of an academic semester or year. The deadline for applications is March 15 of each year. The amount of the award is $500.

Award Qualifications

* a declared major in one of the following: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, English, Foreign Languages, Geography, Geology, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Pre-Medicine, Psychology, or Sociology/Anthropology/Criminology

* a minimum 3.25 GPA

* definite plans to study abroad in Summer or Fall of the current year, or Spring of the following year

* a 300-600 word essay describing the anticipated value of the Study Abroad experience to your academic career

* a letter of support from a faculty member

Other Eligibility Criteria

Financial need is not a consideration. In the event of two equally qualified applicants, preference shall be given to the student who will be attending programs in which English is not the sole language of instruction, or who plans to pursue graduate education, or who has the strongest overall academic potential.
