I get '403 - Forbidden' when logging into PantherMail. How do I access my email?
When signing into PantherMail powered by Office 365, you may receive an error stating:
Server Error403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
ITS has investigated the issue and determined the cause to be related to the configuration of network settings on the computer being used to sign in. These configurations could be due to VPN, DNS, or Malware.
VPN
Cause: If you are using a VPN, including but not limited to Hamachi, Hotspot Shield, or Avast's DeepScreen functionality, while connected to EIUWifi, you may experience this error when logging into Office 365.
Resolution: Disconnect from the VPN while you are signing into PantherMail powered by Office 365.
DNS
Cause: If your computer has DNS settings configured to an external DNS server, such as Google Public DNS, OpenDNS, or others, while connected to EIUWifi, you may experience this error when logging into Office 365.
Resolution: Visit your Network configuration settings under Control Panel (Windows) or System Preferences (OS X) and change the IPv4 DNS setting to "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
Malware
Cause: If your computer is infected with malware and other unwanted software like toolbars and browser extensions, these may modify your network settings or hijack your session signing into PantherMail powered by Office 365.
Resolution: Clean up your computer to remove any malicious software. If you cannot remove the malware, tech support may be able to assist cleaning up your computer.
Alternative Login Page
Alternative Resolution: Return to the PantherMail login page and click the link "Alternative Office 365 login page" to sign in with your email address and EIU password to successfully sign into PantherMail powered by Office 365.
