Subject: Off-Campus Crime Advisory
The Charleston Police Department released the following information.
On Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, at approximately 9:30pm Charleston Police responded to the 300 block of Polk Avenue in reference to a report of an Armed Robbery that just occurred at that location. The victim reported that a white male approached him, stated that he had a gun, and demanded money. The victim turned over his cash and the suspect fled on foot.
At 9:38pm, Charleston Police arrested 19 year old Martin Ray “Petey†Oliver Jr. at his 211 Polk Avenue residence. Oliver is currently on parole and was charged with Aggravated Robbery. He was incarcerated at the Coles County Safety and Detention Center.
Charleston Police were assisted by the EIU Police Department and the Coles County State’s Attorney’s Office.
