Subject: Phishing Email Scam Warning
Recently ITS became aware of a phishing attack that targeted over 700 EIU email accounts. This attack has a subject of “Dear PantherMail(eiu.edu)â€, attempts to trick users into visiting a Google Docs website and is signed “Thanks, PantherMail System Administrator center.â€. The Google Docs page informed users they were over quota and would need to enter their names, username, password and personal email address to increase email quota. This email did not come from ITS or EIU and ITS is working with Google and Shetland College to prevent additional attacks against EIU email accounts.
