Subject: Duo Security Multifactor Authentication - Required by July 12th, 2021
Duo MFA can help us prevent attackers from gaining access to your account. You should have received an email invite with the subject of "Duo Security Enrollment" from the email address "no-reply@duosecurity.com". When you have time, please follow the instructions within the email. EIU has already successfully blocked attempts to compromise employee accounts and confidential data by having MFA enabled. Starting July 12, 2021, all staff accounts will require Duo MFA. On July 12th, the next time you login to Banner, Panthermail or D2L it will require you to register within Duo MFA.
Duo Security Options Explained
With Duo you will sign in into your service, such as Email, Banner, VPN, or D2L. You will then get a prompt to do your Duo Multifactor. You can do this via Duo App, a phone call or using a YubiKey. After doing your Duo MFA, you will be allowed into the service. This process prevents attackers from getting into your account. This is something you have, and the attacker does not. If you see a sign in and it was not you, you can deny access and change your password right away.

Smartphone (Recommended)
It is easy to sign up, download the “Duo Mobile” Security app from your phone's app store. The app is great for getting the most information about the sign in. The app will tell you where you signed in from, so you can make a good decision on knowing if you were the one signing in.
Using A YubiKey (Due to cost, approval from department required)
A small device you can use for your multifactor authentication. Please email info-sec@eiu.edu and we can get you setup with a YubiKey pending department's approval. Please choose "Landline" until we can get you the YubiKey.
Duo Call Back (Great for backup or last resort)
If you use your smartphone, you can have Duo call you to verify. Choose "Landline" during the setup process, put in the phone you would like it to call, it can be a landline or mobile phone. Please remember to check "Remember me for 30 days" during the sign in process, since EIU is charged for every phone call.
Email Clients (Desktop and Mobile)

Mobile Outlook (from your app store), Outlook Web (Panthermail) or Outlook for the desktop.
