Subject: Panthermail Changes

Due to security concerns, Microsoft is soon changing the way EIU users can connect to Panthermail. On Sept. 8, 2020, any users accessing Panthermail via applications that use POP/IMAP will need to migrate to an alternate application; the default mail applications on most Android/iOS devices utilize POP/IMAP.

We have identified your account as one that is connecting to Panthermail using POP/IMAP, so you will need to migrate to Microsoft’s official applications. They are listed below.

Compatible Panthermail Applications

Phone/Mobile

Download and install Microsoft Outlook Mobile from your phone or tablet’s app store.

Desktop

If it is an EIU-owned PC, please contact the Help Desk at 581-HELP to install the latest version.

For home PCs, Outlook for Desktop is part of Office365 and can be downloaded from https://portal.office.com/account/?ref=MeControl

OR

Access Panthermail on the web at https://www.eiu.edu/panthermail.

What happens if I do nothing?

Your email client will no longer download new mail and you will repeatedly be asked to login.
