Subject: QI Proposals for upcoming forum
Dear Faculty/Staff,
As part of Eastern’s reaffirmation of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, we must propose and carry out a Quality Initiative (QI) that can improve our institution. The project is evaluated on genuine effort, not success, and
will need to be assessed in the next 2-3 years. We appreciate those who provided ideas about possible QI projects on a previous campus survey.
As promised, we are now distributing the 3 following brief proposals (attached).
1) Diversifying Eastern’s Faculty for Student Success
2) First-year Student Learning Communities
3) House of Butterfly: An Alternative General Education Cohort focused on Sustainability
The Faculty and Staff Senates will co-host a forum on Wednesday January 15th from 4:00-5:30 pm in the Arcola-Tuscola room of the MLK Union, where we will give a brief presentation on each project and answer questions about them. A survey will be distributed electronically to all faculty/staff immediately after the meeting to provide input on each QI’s strengths and weaknesses and well as determine overall support and interest in each of the projects. We hope to see you then!
Thank you.
