Baccalaureate nursing programs are accredtited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
It is important to become licensed in the state you choose to practice. Many states are a part of a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). If you obtain a license in an NLC state, you may practice in any state that is also an NLC state. Illinois IS NOT an NLC state and you must obtain a license to practice in other states if your primary license is in Illinois.
Admission into a program leading to licensure does not guarantee that students will obtain a license. Registered nurses must pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Exam (NCLEX) to practice as a registered nurse. Licensure requirements are set by state boards of nursing in each state and can change at any time. Obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree at EIU does not guarantee the ability to obtain a license in every state.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Eastern Illinois University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.
