Health Insurance: 

OISS reminds students that your current health insurance policy may provide benefits while attending Eastern Illinois University. If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not cover you during this time, we strongly recommend a comprehensive health insurance plan. Costs for insurance plans will vary depending on the amount and length of coverage. The EIU Health Insurance program does not cover student’s dependents.

Housing:

University Apartments (As the only on-campus facility for the married MBA students) is a fully furnished apartment complex designed to meet the needs of graduate students' families and single graduate students, too. All utilities including local telephone service, ethernet service, cable television service, water, gas, electric, and trash removal are included in the rent.

ELIGIBILITY

Graduate students enrolled in 6 semester hours (minimum) each semester at EIU or be an undergraduate student enrolled in 9 semester hours (minimum) each semester at EIU or Lakeview College of Nursing and meet one of the following requirements:

be married living with a spouse

be a parent living with a dependent child (or children) full-time

be 25 years of age

Married applicants must provide the Office of University Housing & Dining Services with a certified courthouse copy of their marriage certificate.  A State of Illinois criminal background check is also required for all non-student adult spouse occupants of the apartments prior to receiving an assignment.  There is an $18 fee for background checks. Checks are made payable to Eastern Illinois University.

Parents must provide a certified courthouse copy of the child’s birth certificate.  This information must be provided prior to assignment.
