PMB - Preseason Camp
We are super excited about the fall 2024 season! As of right now it looks like we will have approximately 100 members. Below is some information to help you get ready for the upcoming season.
Important Reminders:
- E-Mail Communication: Please start using your EIU e-mail for all PMB-related questions. Email David G. Boggs at dgboggs@eiu.edu. Please know that there are TWO David Boggs on campus. The 'G" is important to use for the e-mail to arrive in my inbox. Thanks!
- Band App: The Band App is our primary mode of daily communication. It is very user friendly and allows us to share rehearsal schedules, get member opinions and chat individually. You will receive an invitation via text or e-mail by mid-July. Please make certain you turn on notifications so that you stay in the loop on a daily basis.
- Register for PMB:
- If you are planning on participating in the PMB fall semester (and I hope ALL of you are!) please remember to register for PMB ASAP (MUS 0202R or MUS 0202X).
- Once you have taken PMB FOR CREDIT for a full semester, then you have the option of taking PMB for NO credit (MUS 0202X) or FOR credit (MUS 0202R).
- Important Forms: If you haven't done so already, complete these two online forms right away:
- Complete the Preseason Camp registration form by noon Friday, August 9, 2024.
- Complete the Uniform Form by July 15, 2024 so that we can ensure we have the correct sizes available by pre-season camp.
2024 Preseason Camp Tentative Schedule
- Saturday, August 10, 2024 – Leadership Team Move-in / Training Day
- Sunday, August 11, 2024 – Full PMB Move-in / First Day of Camp
- All non-leadership PMB members will move-in on Sunday, August 11, 2024 into their Residence Hall Room from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm
- PMB Registration from 1:00-4:00 pm in the Doudna Concourse (this process takes approximately 45 minutes and students will be assigned a time)
- Monday-Wednesday, August 12-14, 2024 – PMB Camp – 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
- Thursday, August 15, 2024 – PMB Camp / Convocation! – Schedule TBD
- Friday, August 16, 2024 – Rehearsals TBD / Media Night!
- Saturday, August 17, 2024 – Tentatively no rehearsals
- Sunday, August 18, 2024 – First Night Performance! – 7:00-9:00 pm

Uniforms
- EIU will supply the standard PMB uniform for all members. Uniform cleaning fees are included in the PMB course fee.
- We will also supply two PMB T-shirts and a PMB cap.
- Please fill out the PMB Uniform Measurement Form by July 15 so that we can begin the preliminary ordering process and start the sizing process. Thanks!

Click here. (this is the syllabus and handbook from several years back. The syllabus main content does not change much from year to year. The updated syllabus for Fall 2024 will be posted by our Preseason Camp and we will discuss it on the first day of class.
Announcements
Camp is not that far off! Make sure you are taking time to do the following things this summer in order to be prepared:
- Drink lots of water.
- Get exercise!
- Try to get outside during a warmer part of the day, even for 10-15 minutes to help your body prepare for late August heat.
- HYDRATE!
- Download music and get practicing, especially on the warm-ups.
- What parts do you prepare for camp? Good question. The best advice I have for you is to print off all parts for each song and prepare the one that you feel most comfortable in performing. Not everyone can be 1st trumpet (or whatever other section)! We want great players on all parts.
