CSA VISIT DAYS

The CSA interview process, culminates with the CSA Visit Days which offer qualified applicants the chance to interview with campus supervisors for graduate assistantships for admissions to the program. During the process, domestic candidates and transferring international candidates, will get the opportunity to engage with faculty, current students in the CSA program, alumni and campus student affairs professionals. International candidates will participate via Zoom. Applicants who meet the January 31, 2025 priority deadline, will be considered for the CSA Visit Day. This is a rolling application process. Applications will be accepted until the entire fall 2025 cohort is complete (typically around April 15). 

Candidates will receive an invitation to interview (in-person/zoom) with campus supervisors for a graduate assistantship. Accommodations will be provided for overnight stay. Contact che@eiu.edu for further information on candidacy.

Priority consideration for admission is given to candidates who attend the CSA Visit Day. Invitations will be extended via phone/email, and candidates must receive a formal invitation before registering for the CSA Interview Process. There is no registration fee for this process. Candidates will receive an invitation to interview (in-person/zoom) with campus supervisors for a graduate assistantship. Overnight accommodations will be provided for candidates. Candidates may elect to use other accommodations at their expense.

DATES

Candidates will choose between one of two CSA Visit Day dates.

  1. Sunday, March 2  to Monday, March 3, 2025
  2. Sunday, March 9 to Monday, March 10, 2025

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

Day 1

           3:00 pm          Arrive to EIU’s campus

4:00 – 5:15 pm          Campus and Community Tour

5:15 – 6:15 pm          Dinner with candidates and student affairs leaders

6:30 – 7:30 pm          Social with undergraduate student leaders, current CSA students and faculty, and Student Affairs staff

Day 2

  8:00 –  9:00 am        Breakfast

  9:00 – 11:30 am       30-minute interviews with student affairs departments of interest.

*If no interview during one of these five sessions you will be provided with additional campus tours.

11:30 – 12:00 pm      Tour of Union, Fine Arts Center, and Booth Library

12:00 –  1:00 pm       Lunch

  1:00 –  2:30 pm       College Student Affairs Social and Tour at Buzzard Hall

  2:30 –  3:00 pm       Wrap Up Meetings

              3:00 pm       Return to conference floor and then departure

WHAT TO WEAR

Sunday: Casual (Be presentable, but comfortable. Jeans are acceptable and comfortable shoes for walking around are suggested. Also, if possible, please wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt that represents your undergraduate institution)

Monday: Business attire (Look your best! Suits look great!)

WHAT TO BRING

  • Copies of your resume
  • Professional dress clothes for interviewing
  • Casual and athletic clothes for informal activities

APPLICANT COSTS

CSA Visit Days candidates are responsible for the following costs:

  • Travel to and from Charleston
  • Lodging if off-campus accommodation is preferred

There will be no related costs in registration and attendance for those who participate in the CSA Interview Process virtually.

Lawson Hall's housing accommodations include a furnished traditional residence hall room with a semi-private bath.   Rooms are furnished with sheets, towels, pillows, blankets, alarm clock, mini fridge and telephone (no long distance). Additionally, each floor has a TV lounge (tables with chairs, couches, TV, etc.) with a large refrigerator and microwave. Invitees are assigned to a single room.
