HSL 3853 - Practicum in Child Development: A laboratory experience focused on the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of the preschool-age child that is held in EIU's Child and Family Life Education Center. The course includes program organization, child and group guidance, parent-teacher relationships, naturalistic observation, and child study.
The faculty-supervised laboratory provides students with direct and practical experiences where they can apply knowledge and theory while planning programs, teaching, guiding, and caring for children and interacting with families. The Center strives to be a place where students, children and families can participate and experience supportive and enriching early childhood and community programming.
Students enrolled in HSL 3853 will learn and practice the techniques for writing research based case study reports on individual children; which are essential career preparation for the human services field.
