Direct Deposit of Student Refunds

Eastern Illinois University offers direct deposit of student refunds, meaning you can have your financial aid refund check sent directly to your bank account!

To complete the application, complete the form and upload:

  1. A check with the words “VOID” written clearly across the check or documentation from your bank showing both routing and account numbers
  2. A copy of your Panther Card, Driver's License, or ID card issued by state/territory 

These documents are required for security and authentication purposes.

Once the application is submitted, it will take up to three business days for the changes to take effect. You will be notified via email once the changes have been made in the accounts payable system.

If your refund is not direct deposited, it will be mailed to your local address.

If you wish to complete the application in person, visit the digital kiosk in the Cashier's Office (enter via the ramp at back of Old Main).

    1. Log in to Business Affairs Applications using your EIU email credentials.
    2. Navigate to the "Direct Deposit" drop-down menu.
    3. Choose "Direct Deposit of Student Refunds."
    4. If this is your first time enrolling, you won't see any bank information under "Your Current ACH Accounts."
    5. Prepare your required documents, then click on "Change Information."
    6. Select "Add New."
    7. Fill out each field accordingly.
    8. Enter the Bank Routing Number and select it from the list provided.
    9. Input the Account Number twice. If the two values don't match, you'll be prompted to re-enter the account number.
    10. Click "Add" when you're done.
    11. The page will refresh; this might take a few seconds.
    12. Your new account details will be displayed.
    13. Choose "Update" if you need to modify any information or review what you've entered.
    14. Opt for "Remove" if you want to delete the request.
    15. A confirmation message will appear:
      • Select "OK" to confirm removal.
      • Choose "Cancel" if you don't want to proceed with removal.
    16. Upload a check with the word VOID written clearly across the check or documentation from your bank showing both routing and account numbers.
      • You can upload a file from your computer/device or take a picture with your device.
      • Specify the Document Type.
      • Select the file and click "Upload."
      • It's recommended to review the document to ensure accuracy and legibility.
    17. Upload a copy of your Panther Card, Driver's License, or state/territory ID card.
      • Follow the same upload process as above.
    18. If necessary, you can remove any uploaded documents.
    19. Review and check off each statement.
    20. Click "Submit."
    21. After submission, a verification code will be sent to your EIU email.
    22. Copy the access code from the email and paste/enter it, then click "Submit."
    23. If needed, you can request the verification email to be resent.
    24. Once verified, your request will show as pending with the Business Office.
    25. You'll receive an email confirming that the request will be processed in approximately 3 business days.
    26. Once processed by the Business Office, you'll receive an email confirming completion.
  • Change Direct Deposit Information

    1. Sign in to Business Affairs Applications using your EIU email credentials.
    2. Hover your cursor over the “Direct Deposit” drop-down menu.
    3. Select "Direct Deposit of Student Refunds."
    4. Your current ACH Accounts will be displayed.
    5. Click on "Change Information."
    6. To add a new account, you must first deactivate the existing one. Select "Inactivate."
    7. Confirm by selecting "OK" to proceed or "Cancel" to return.
    8. Now, you can add a new account. Choose "Add New."
    9. Fill in each field as required.
    10. Enter the Bank Routing Number and choose it from the provided list.
    11. Enter the Account Number twice. If they don't match, you'll receive a notification to re-enter the number.
    12. Click "Add" when all details are entered.
    13. The page will refresh, which may take a few seconds.
    14. Your new bank account information will be displayed.
    15. If you need to update or review any information, select "Update." To delete the request, choose "Remove."
    16. A confirmation message will appear. Click "OK" to remove or "Cancel" to keep the request.
    17. Upload a voided check with “VOID” clearly written across it or documentation from your bank showing both routing and account numbers. You can upload a file from your computer/device or take a picture and upload it.
    18. Choose the Document Type, then select the file and click "Upload." Ensure the document is legible and correct.
    19. Additionally, upload a copy of your Panther Card, Driver's License, or state/territory ID card using the same upload options.
    20. If needed, you can remove any uploaded documents.
    21. Review and check each statement.
    22. Click "Submit" when finished.
    23. After submission, a verification code will be sent to your EIU email account.
    24. Copy the access code from the email and paste/enter it, then select "Submit."
    25. If necessary, you can request to have the verification email resent.
    26. Once verified, your request will be displayed as pending and will indicate it’s pending with the Business Office.
    27. You will receive an email confirming that the request will be processed in approximately 3 business days.
    28. Once processed by the Business Office, you will receive an email indicating the request has been completed.
