Individualized Consultation
We can help you succeed in college!
The Academic Support Center provides one-on-one meetings with students seeking help in evaluating and correcting academic challenges. Students at any level are encouraged to seek academic consulting to develop skills that can improve areas of their lives such as time management, note taking, study skills and test taking
What can I expect at an Individualized Consultation?
Our staff is trained in teaching effective college success skills and can also assist students with test anxiety or motivational challenges. Academic Consultants also work to connect students with available campus resources and promote healthy approaches to balancing the demands of college, work, family, and play.
Online resources we frequently reference are also available on the website under Academic Resources. You are encouraged to use these resources on your own, but we are happy to help you understand how to apply these ideas and strategies to fit your needs.
For example, meet with an academic consultant to discuss:
- productive use of study time
- goal-setting for improved academic success
- reading and note-taking strategies
- overcoming test-taking challenges
- any other academic skill you want to develop!
A meeting with an academic consultant can be a single event or a periodic check-in. It is recommended that a student schedule at least 2-3 consulting appointments in order to test out new techniques provided by the consultant and through a follow-up meeting report back on the success of such techniques. Students will meet with a consultant for approximately one hour to discuss their academic and related concerns and then work with the consultant to create an action plan for the semester. There is NO cost for this service.
