Transferring to EIU's School of Business

The School of Business welcomes graduates of Illinois community colleges and transfer students from other schools. With careful planning, full-time students can earn a bachelor's degree in business in four years. The Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) enables students attending community colleges and other Illinois schools to transfer to Eastern Illinois University without loss of credit; visit our Business Major IAI Recommendations page for the recommended transfer general education and business courses. If you plan to transfer to EIU's School of Business, plan your academic course work in consultation with your academic advisor.

To prepare for your transfer to EIU’s School of Business, you should take transferable courses that satisfy curriculum requirements for general education and business core courses. Transfer students who want to

Applying to the School of Business as a Transfer Student

If you are transferring to Eastern Illinois University and want to pursue a business major, indicate your intended major on your application to EIU.

If you already have met the School of Business Admission Requirements at the time that you apply to EIU, no separate application is needed for the School of Business. You will automatically be considered for admission to the School of Business.

If you have not fully met the School of Business admission requirements at the time that you apply to EIU but will meet the Admission Requirements at the end of that semester, your application to EIU will serve as your application for conditional admission to the School of Business. However, you must submit updated official transcripts from your transfer institution immediately after completing those courses to be considered for full admission to the School of Business.

If you do not meet the School of Business admission requirements at the time that you apply to EIU, you will be classified as a pre-business student if you are admitted to Eastern Illinois University. You may apply for admission to the School of Business at a later date when you meet the admission requirements.

iTransfer

iTransfer is the home to the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), which gives you information on the transfer process in the state of Illinois. At this site, you will find information about the types of transfers, the transfer process, and resources available to students.

2+2 Agreements

Some Illinois community colleges have set up cooperative agreements with EIU’s School of Business. These “2+2 Agreements” enable you to complete a two year degree program at a community college that includes the general education and business tool courses so that you can transfer directly into a School of Business degree program. Transcript Evaluation

If you are transferring from a college or university outside Illinois or are returning to school after a break in your education, EIU will evaluate your transcript to determine the courses that you need to fulfill the general education and business tool requirements. Transcripts will be evaluated as part of the admission process if you apply to Eastern Illinois University. Preliminary transcript review can be requested through iTransfer’s Course Applicability System CAS.

BSB at Parkland

The School of Business, in cooperation with Parkland College, offers a part-time business degree program with evening classes on the Parkland College campus in Champaign, Illinois.
