The Components of a Prospectus in Literary Studies (approximately 1500 words, accompanied by a schedule and relevant bibliography):

The thesis in literary studies should be an original scholarly work that engages thoughtfully with the research in the field of study and adds in a substantive way to the general body of knowledge. The thesis includes a substantial bibliography or works cited.
