EIU Civic Engagement and Volunteerism

Upcoming Fall Programs

There is a lot happening in our country and across the globe right now. And a lot of those events/issues are asking for your attention and effort. Are you struggling to figure out what causes matter to you and how to get involved? Or how you make impact change for causes that you are passionate about? Our Civic Engagement Programming is just the way to learn how to turn your curiosity into action!

October 2022 Events

Socktober: Join us for our annual tradition of collecting brand new socks throughout the month of October. We will be donating all pairs of socks to One Stop Community Christmas which supports over 1,000 local families and 2,500 local kids each December. We are looking for brand new socks size newborn to adult sizes in all colors! Drop them off at Civic Engagement and Volunteerism (3065 MLK Union Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm) or drop them off to us during EIU’s Homecoming Parade.

EIU Operation Votes:
Join us for National Voter Education Week! Join us on Wednesday, October 5th! We are partnering with the National Association of Colored Women's Club to host an on-campus Voter Registration Drive! If you are already registered to vote back home, we will also have information on how to request a mail in ballot. Your voice, and your vote matter! Bring your photo ID and get ready to get registered! Stop by the MLK Jr. Union Bridge Lounge between 12:30-2:30pm..

Ask the Expert: Join us for a chat with a Faculty Expert! This month our conversation will be about Abortion Rights and how it impacts ALL of us. Come and learn about how your race may influence who you vote for! We will have a presentation by EIU’s very own Dr. Jeannie Ludlow from the Women and Gender Studies department, followed by questions and answers. Come get inspired to find and use your voice on Wednesday, October 26 at 7pm in Buzzard Auditorium. Register to join us today!

EIU Operation Votes:
Join us for National VOTE EARLY day on October 28th! Join us in the Bridge Lounge of the MLK Jr. Union (if you are registered to vote in Coles County) to cast your ballot! We want ALL students to understand their voice, and their vote matter, regardless of who they vote for!
