Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis as applications are turned in. You will receive an email to set up your interview. Committee Chair Requirements: — Minimum GPA of 2.5 — Be in good disciplinary & academic standing with Eastern Illinois University — Complete a minimum of TWO office hours each week — Attend ALL Student Senate weekly meetings on Wednesdays — Serve on a Student Senate Committee (see descriptions below) — Complete a major event by the end of the semester. — Academic Affairs Academic Affairs serves as the voice of the Student Body in all areas related to academics on the EIU campus. They work to ensure that course are added to the EIU Course Catalog to ensure that EIU's course offerings are staying current. They also work to expand the public knowledge of programs offered by the various educational departments here on campus. — Alumni Relations Alumni Relations serves as the direct link between the Student Body and alumni related groups, organizations and university committees. They work to enhance the relationship between the current student population and the extensive alumni network of EIU. — Business Affairs The Business Affairs Committee publishes a yearly Fee Booklet that breaks down the fees that are charged to every student's student account. Furthermore, this committee often plans forums on these fees. Business Affairs also assesses all fee increases before they are ultimately voted on by the Student Senate. — Diversity Affairs The Diversity Affairs Committee serves as the uniting voice of diverse groups here on campus. They also oversee the implementation of the Student Senate Diversity Requirements. — External Relations The External Relations Committee works to bridge the gap between the Charleston community and the EIU student body. This organization sponsors trash pick-ups, dumpster dives, forums on off-campus housing, and other successful philanthropic events throughout the EIU community. This committee also represents EIU at the Charleston City Council Meetings. — Internal Affairs The Internal Affairs Committee within Student Government seeks to improve the functioning, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Student Government. It seeks to specifically improve the accountability and productivity of Student Government members in regards to their respective positions, duties, and obligations. This is a two-person committee and has a variety of tasks. They keep track of absences, office hours, and organizes bonding events for Student Government. — Student Affairs The Student Affairs Committee serves as the direct link between Student Government and the student body. In the past, this Committee has sponsored successful programs such as Spring Pantherpalooza, Panther Service Day, and Panther Pile-up. They also serve as the governing body of new campus organizations that wish to become Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). — University Enhancement The University Enhancement Committee works on improving campus. This committee communicates with UPD on ensuring that a safety walk takes place once a semester, and works on creating a green environment here at EIU. They also work to enhance the Panther Shuttle Service that is available to all full-time students here at EIU. works on improving campus.
