The Purposes of the Department of Human Services Ambassadors (HSA) shall be:
I. To improve undergraduate experience by engaging in departmental and community service that supports leadership and professional development of undergraduates, students’ abilities to market themselves as HS majors, and mentor relationships among current students, prospective undergraduate students, and faculty.
a. Examples of HSA departmental service activities include, but are not limited to the creation and production of the HS newsletter, visiting high schools, attending on campus recruitment events, contacting admitted students, helping with departmental or college events.
b. Examples of community service activities include, but are not limited to volunteering for or helping agencies or organizations in the Charleston community with special events or programs.
II. To establish and maintain relationships and effective channels of communication between members, other undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, the Human Services Department, The Colleges of Health and Human Services, and the University.
a. HSA will represent the student body at departmental, college, and university events.
b. HSA will maintain a presence at Department, College, and University events that do not necessarily involve recruitment.
