Booth Library to host March Book Madness: Kick-Ass Heroines bracket competition

Katniss or Arya? Okoye or Storm? Who do YOU think is the most Kick-Ass Heroine in fiction? Help us crown the 2023 Kick-Ass Heroine champion by taking part in Booth Library's March Book Madness bracket competition!

March Book Madness is similar to NCAA March Madness except that Kick-Ass Heroines will be competing instead of basketball teams. Our library staff has chosen the Top 16 match-ups featuring heroines from various literary genres.

Here’s how to play: Beginning March 1, see the Top 16 bracket in a special display on the library’s main floor. Grab a bracket and choose the winners of each pairing, then add your name and email address and drop it in the box before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 19.

Round 1 of online voting will take place from March 20-26 as the Top 16 heroines are narrowed down to the eight, then to four (online voting March 27-April 2), and then the championship match-up (April 3-4). The final round of voting on April 5-6 will declare the 2023 Kick-Ass Heroine Champion! Everyone is encouraged to vote in each round!

Stop by the March Book Madness display often to see the updated bracket after each round of voting, and watch the library website and Booth Library social media (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) for information on how to vote online.

Brackets with the most accurate predictions will be entered into a raffle for a copy of the book featuring our Kick-Ass Heroine champion!
