Overview

This certificate combines coursework from the online M.A. in Public Administration and Public Policy with graduate courses in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), providing an excellent foundation for growing careers in urban and regional planning, city management, campaign management, and any career requiring advanced analytical tools.

This certificate requires 18 credits, but for current students earning the M.A. in Political Science (the face-to-face or online option in Public Administration and Public Policy), only 9 additional hours of GIS are required. Similarly, students enrolled in the Professional Science Master's in GIS need to complete only 9 hours of Political Science graduate coursework.

Our online courses are taught by Political Science and Geography faculty at EIU. We are accessible on campus, via email/video-chat, and via phone. We offer the same mentoring and opportunities to online students as our face-to-face students.
