The Communication and Cultural Diversity minor prepares students to compete in a global economy by exploring how communication constructs our understanding of diversity and difference. Students learn how stereotypes and prejudices are maintained and challenged and discover new ways to create possibilities for inclusion.
Drawing on rhetorical and critical perspectives embedded in the field of communication, the Communication and Cultural Diversity minor examines the ways in which communication can help us see others as resources rather than obstacles. Students learn skills to help them thrive in a broad range of organizations and help them flourish in diverse work and social environments. This minor is also valuable to those who wish to pursue careers in advocacy for diversity and inclusion in their communities.
