The Financial Literacy minor in the Department of Human Services offers an interdisciplinary course of study focusing on family financial management and the economic well-being of individuals, families and communities. The program prepares students to meet the growing need for consumer studies professionals to represent, advocate, educate and empower consumer's decisions, information, rights and responsibilities.
The 18 semester hours of required coursework in the Financial Literacy minor cover topics related to housing, risk and insurance, family stress and resilience, addictions and the family, consumer issues, nutrition, and poverty. The minor can be completed either face-to-face or online.

Internships:
Financial Literacy minors can enroll in an internship as part of their elective hours. Partnerships with community organizations offer opportunities for service learning, job shadowing, and internships.
