Do you like to work with numbers? Are you analytical? A problem solver? Do you enjoy working as part of a team? Then you should consider a major and career in accounting.
Accounting is central to business operations and critical to the capital markets. Accountants organize, analyze and communicate financial information. In addition to providing services in the traditional areas of preparation and analysis of financial statements, auditing, and tax planning and compliance, accountants serve as valuable members of management teams, as highly respected consultants to top management, and as trusted advisers to professionals, business owners, and government leaders.
You can prepare for a career in accounting by majoring in accounting, one of seven business majors offered by Eastern Illinois University's School of Business.
EIU's School of Business is student-centered and fosters relationship-driven learning between students and faculty. Accounting students in the School of Business can reach their potential through a variety of learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. All accounting and business classes are taught by faculty members - not graduate students - using collaborative and project-based learning as well as more traditional teaching methods. Accounting students also have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills through numerous extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
