Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies:

The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor is an eighteen-hour interdisciplinary program designed to offer students a rich, diverse understanding of human behavior, culture, and society through the investigation of issues related to women, gender, and sexuality.

 

What can I do with a Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Minor from EIU?

Our minors have found employment in business, education, women’s resources, government service, writing, healthcare, publishing, law, theology, human rights organizations, environmental and consumer groups, journalism, policy and lobbying organizations, unions, research centers, library science, community agencies, psychology, social work, and countless other fields.

 

WGSS minors are also qualified to work in social service agencies related to women, such as crisis intervention services, homeless and relationship-violence shelters, health clinics, and other non-profit organizations.

 

Furthermore, some of our students pursue graduate degrees in fields such as law, social work, business, film, management, humanities, social sciences, education, counseling, women’s studies, public administration, medicine, and other disciplines.

Completion time: 18 semester hours

Internships:

Because the options for Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minors are vast, students are encouraged to enroll in our internship course: WST 4275. In this course, each student completes a required number of hours of field work and creates a resume that reflects the skills learned during that experience.
