Broadcast Journalism students receive a grounding in general journalistic principles, practices, ethics and law, but they receive advanced instruction tailored to the field of broadcast news. The Broadcast Journalism option prepares students with the specialized skills and training they will need to succeed. Broadcast news skills extend from traditional radio and television media to digital media platforms. Broadcast Journalism students learn how to disseminate news across these platforms to prepare for careers in front of or behind the camera or microphone. Our students report on news, sports and weather, and they learn to think critically, produce creatively, write precisely, process information quickly, interview thoughtfully, manage people, and develop an excellent work ethic.
