The Art History option at EIU provides extensive integrative learning experiences through the interdisciplinary context of lecture presentations, study abroad, field trips to galleries and art museums, and a close, on-campus relationship with the Tarble Arts Center. While working toward the bachelor's degree, students will gain an understanding of art history theory and insight into the work of curating, archiving and critiquing art in museums and galleries.
The Studio Art option with two-dimensional emphasis offers students the opportunity to study various 2D studio media. Studio classes are offered in drawing, painting, printmaking and digital art. Instruction in the studio processes is done with an emphasis on creativity, craftsmanship, application and understanding of design principles, and safety.
The Studio Art option with three-dimensional emphasis offers the student the opportunity to study various 3D studio media. Studio classes are offered in ceramics, metalsmithing/jewelry, and sculpture. Instruction in the studio processes is done with an emphasis on creativity, craftsmanship, application and understanding of design principles, and safety.
