The chemistry minor allows students to add significant exposure and experience with chemistry to their major degree, and requires only 20 credit hours. There are two tracks, which share three common requirements but differ thereafter depending on the path they take with regard to organic chemistry. All minors take the general chemistry sequence plus quantitative analysis, and then Track I students take the survey organic course plus 2 other upper level chemistry courses. The track II minor requires just one more upper level chemistry course beyond the year-long organic sequence. Pre-medical, pharmacy, physician's assistant, and veterinary students will find that usually they only need to take the quantitative analysis course beyond their pre-health chemistry courses in order to obtain the minor.
