Abby Moulton, an exercise science major, knew she wanted to continue at Eastern for her Master’s degree in exercise science with a focus on the clinical side even during her undergraduate years.
During her time here, she received a graduate assistantship through the Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation department that gave her hands-on experience in the Adult Fitness Program at Eastern.
Moulton worked in the Assessment, Testing and Performance lab and then worked in the Wellness Department at Sarah Bush Health Center as a Wellness Assistant.
In October 2013, Moulton became a full-time Wellness Specialist at Sarah Bush.
As a Wellness Specialist, Moulton supervises the Employee Wellness Program at Sarah Bush. Moulton oversees annual wellness screenings that looks at cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI and weight, and a nicotine screening. Moulton also offers health coaching to people who want to reach a healthy goal.
Moulton interned in the METS Department at Sarah Bush during her undergrad working with the Step in the Right Direction and Living with Diabetes classes with Paula Enstrom. During her graduate experience, she worked in Cardiac Rehabilitation and stress testing, also in the METS Department.
Moulton said the excellent professors at Eastern take the time to get to know you as a student and a person.
“They go above and beyond just teaching,” Moulton said. “They really do care about your success and your learning experience at Eastern.”
Moulton said that she has the knowledge base as well as the application to apply all the things she learned in the classroom to the hands-on experience that she got.
