Program Assistant- Student Support Specialist

Position Summary: Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a Program Assistant- Student Support Specialist. This is a full-time position in the Dean of Students Office. This position will assist in the overall operations of the Dean of Students Office and administration of the University’s Code of Conduct and the University’s Commencement Ceremonies. The incumbent will perform a variety of administrative functions including responding to students who need additional support services, managing educational sanctions for alcohol and drug related behaviors, primary contact person for academic dishonesty and classroom behavior issues, administrative hearing officer and oversee the planning and implantation of the University’s Commencement Ceremonies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Respond to students who need additional support on campus or in the community, provide follow-up

· Manage educational sanctioning for alcohol and drug related violations, follow-up as needed

· Serve as primary contact for faculty in cases of academic dishonesty

· Resolve behavioral issues originating from a variety of sources

· Assist with appropriate maintenance of student records

· Make presentations of a variety of audiences as requested

· Serve on committees throughout the institution as requested

· Frequently interact with students, parents, faculty and other departments

· Always maintain confidentiality

· Uphold and support all university Internal Governing Policy

· Oversee the planning and implementation of the university’s commencement ceremonies as

· Directed by the Dean of Students

· Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

· Event planning experience

· Strong organization and administrative skills

· Basic understanding of legal issues

· Understanding of student development

· Ability to apply theory to practice

· Ability to analyze and interpret university policy and make independent decisions

 

 

 

Work Hours

The core work hours of this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

 

Salary/Pay Rate Range
