Office Administrator

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a full-time Civil Service position of Office Administrator in the Department of Human Services. The successful candidate will be resourceful, able to work independently, have strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask. This position will act as assistant to the department chair.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing support to faculty and department chair,

• Responding to requests, incoming/outgoing communications such as phone, email, and mail to a wide range of constituents,

• Managing fiscal transactions and budgets,

• Maintaining equipment inventory, event planning, and calendar for department chair,

• Entering class schedules, assigning rooms, registering students for classes, and reviewing and entering faculty assignments of duties information,

• Providing support for school events, projects, and meetings, and

• Preparing and entering scholarships and awards.

 

Candidates must meet the following requirements: 1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Any one of the following from the categories below: a. Four years (48 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series (Office Support Specialist). b. Two years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the fourth level of this series (Office Manager).

The qualified candidate will be required to pass a Civil Service Examination.
