Tuition: Undergraduate tuition and Scholarship amount is based on enrollment in 12 credit hours per semester. 12 credits are considered full-time status by SEVIS.
Fees: See the link for the fee description. Fee costs are subject to change depending on number of courses taken. The International Student Fee is $230 per academic year. All international students must pay this amount, regardless if they are on EIU's campus or not. International students who take all online courses from abroad will also be charged this amount, which provides support to international students and OISS.
Living Expenses: These are estimated for single students, with regular out-of-state rates. For students with dependents, you should allow an additional $5,525.00 per year for your spouse and an additional $2,000.00 per year for each child. These amounts will cover their food, housing, medical care, and other miscellaneous expenses. This is the minimum amount you should prove for your I-20 or DS-2019.
*Total USD (per year): Please expect an approximate increase each year.
Eligibility Requirements: Information about Admission and sufficient funding for EIU can be found here.
International Student Scholarship: Awards are dependent on available scholarship monies. More information can be found here.
** Undergraduate International Excellence Awards: Tuition for eligible undergraduate students (with a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale at the point of admission) will be assessed at the in-state rate. For AY 23-24, this is a cost difference of $1,980.72. More information can be found here.
Health Insurance: OISS reminds students that their current health insurance policy may provide some benefits while attending EIU. If you do not have insurance or if your insurance does not fully cover you during this time, we strongly recommend that you purchase a comprehensive health insurance plan. Costs for insurance plans will vary depending on the amount and length of coverage.
