Facility Use Request

Facility Use Request

The MLK Jr. University Union is a RSO (Recognized Student Organization) first option for a meeting space. If the Union cannot accommodate then a request can be made to Housing for space.

RSO will assume responsibility for any lost or damaged items.

RSO will be charged restitution for cleaning charges if the housing facility is not left in better or the same condition that it was found.

Rooms furnishings and furniture must be returned to where it was originally found.
Only student organizations registered with the Office of Student Life are permitted to request Housing Facilities.

Priority is given first to: residents of the building where request is made, resident programs and events, on-campus student organizations such as Hall Councils, RHA, NRHH, Housing Business and staff meetings, Faculty Fellows, Tutoring Services, and EIU Student Affair events.

Housing Staff Members may deny the use of facilities if it conflicts with scheduled events or if the organization has previously violated housing policies as stated in the Housing and Dining Policy Handbook.

Amplified music utilized in these facility spaces must not disrupt the residential community.

All students and guests who are granted permission to utilize housing facilities must comply with all housing policies. Non-compliance of policies will result in the termination of the requesting organizations’ use of housing facilities. Incomplete information on request form will result in denial of request.

The facilities within University Housing support the development of community by providing our residents and guests with places to gather and study. Therefore, study hours and courtesy hour policies must be followed at all times. Excessive noise or disruption to our living environments is not permitted.

Student representatives may not act as a vendor or sales agent, set up a commercial business enterprise of any kind, nor operate activities from any public space in University Housing Facilities or from student rooms. Door to door solicitation is prohibited in University owned housing. Please contact the Housing Office for more information regarding solicitation or sales if unsure.

Repeated cancelling of reservation requests may restrict groups from using facilities in the future. Cancellations should be made 24 hours in advance.

Facility Use Requests must be submitted at least 48 hours (2 working days) in advance.

Outside Catering is not permitted
