If you are a non-degree seeking student at EIU, we strongly recommend that you apply for either the Online Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of Writing or the English master’s degree.
Why?
When you are admitted into a program, the Director of Graduate Studies in English will be able to advise you in your selection of graduate courses, and to alert you to any new courses that are available (especially online courses, which tend to fill up quickly). If you are a non-degree seeking student, however, the Director will not know that you are pursuing a course of study.
Plus, you already have paid the one-time application fee of $30! It does not cost any more to apply to the Certificate or the full MA degree program.
