College Student Services

Among college administrators, some specialize in working with students (in admissions, housing, Greek life, etc.) People who specialize in college student services often pursue a graduate degree in College Student Affairs. Because strong written and spoken communication skills are important to this profession, English majors are often drawn to this field.

In addition to the alumni featured here, other graduates of EIU English who have pursued careers in college student services hold positions like Student Services Adviser and Residence Hall Coordinator.

The employment outlook: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2014 there were 175,100 people working as college administrators managing college student services. The field is projected to grow by 9% through 2024. *
