Schedule

Both the Elementary Education and the Special Education programs will begin August 2021; courses will be offered in a sequence culminating with full-time student teaching duirng the Fall 2024 semester. 

Both programs require additional content courses and, for undergraduate candidates, courses to meet university graduation requirements.  This information may be found here.

EIU will offer all required professional education and upper division courses at the Regional Office of Education 9 site in Champaign. 

Some courses, or portions of courses, will be offered online so that face to face classes can be limited to one night per week (e.g., 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.). Students must have access to the Internet and able to use the EIU D2L learning management system (see https://www.eiu.edu/d2l/)

Note that several courses have required field experiences that must be completed in local schools during regular operating hours; students who are working in the daytime will need to make arrangements to accommodate these required experiences.

This schedule is tentative and subject to change.

* Students receiving financial aid must take at least six semester hours and should consider taking additional courses at EIU in the semester in which there are five semester hours or fewer in the professional education schedule below.
