Credit for Prior Learning Application (CPL)

CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING GUIDELINES:
a. Students must be accepted into the program offering credit for prior learning.

b. Prior to beginning the approval process, students must consult with their Advisor (Grad Coordinator for Grad Students) or Department Chair to determine if CPL is an option for them.

c. Once the Department Chair meets with the student, the student can formally submit their portfolio here. Portfolios may include evidence, such as professional development courses, syllabi, experiential learning, work experience in the field, writing samples, certification and/or licensure, or other documentation necessary to elaborate on students’ experiences. Submission of a portfolio does not guarantee credit will be awarded for a course.

d. Students will earn either the grade of Credit or No Credit for all approved CPL portfolio submissions.

e. Regardless of portfolio evaluation outcome, students will be responsible for all fees associated with the CPL portfolio review process ($400/3 credit hour course). Waivers cannot be applied to any CPL fees.
These fees include:
Portfolio fee: $100
Submission fee: $300

f. Depending on the Department guidelines, 9-12 credit hours may be awarded by an undergraduate program that has CPL approved.
