Presidential Distinguished Service Award

Individual awards for distinguished service to the University, and/or the Public may be made annually. All current full-time employees of EIU (faculty, civil service, professional staff and administrators) who have completed at least one full year at the university are eligible to receive a Presidential Distinguished Service Award.

Call for Nominations will be announced to the campus community with a link to the nomination form during the Spring semester. Nominations will be accepted during a two-week period. Review of nominations will be made by members of the President's Council and up to five names each year will be recommended to the President for consideration. The President will select awardees who will be announced at the President's Fall State of the University Address.

  1. University Service includes: (a) demonstration of exemplary service beyond regular duties: (b) performance of duties in a manner that exemplifies the core value of being All-In for our students and/or University and (c) provides exceptional leadership on department/university committees, university initiatives and/or. other types of service.
  2. Public service includes extraordinary service and contributions to activities and organizations beyond the University at the local, regional, state, or national level that strongly reflect the core values of Eastern Illinois University.

Each recipient of the award shall receive a special plaque commemorating the prestigious recognition.
